Le Rouge Français products are developed in-house in our R&D laboratory in Marseille and manufactured in Normandy at an Ecocert-certified production and packaging site. Only our eyepencils are manufactured in Italy.
COSMOS is the European standard for natural and organic cosmetics. The specifications control the composition of ingredients and finished products, the nature of the packaging, manufacturing, conditioning, storage, document management, and communication.
Our products (except 011.Rouge Alizarine and the galatée précieuse collection) are COSMOS Organic certified by Ecocert Greenlife, according to this standard.
Our ingredients are sourced locally and organically as much as possible, such as madder from Charente-Maritime and indigo from Provence, or from countries where the plants are endemic, in order to preserve biodiversity and ancestral cultures.
Vegan as an individual: A person who, as far as practically possible, excludes all animal-derived products (veganism) and adopts a lifestyle that respects animals (clothing, cosmetics, leisure activities, etc.).
Vegan as a product: A product free of any animal-derived substances, that has not used animal-derived technical agents, and has not been tested on animals in any way. "Animal origin" refers to substances derived from farming, slaughter, hunting, and fishing.

Since 2022, the use of E171 in food products has no longer been authorized in the European Union; however, the European measure provides for a sell-off of existing stocks. The order of December 23, 2022 thus maintains the suspension for the French market in 2023.

A dye plant is a plant species, a part of which or its entirety is used for coloring applications. They also have incredible biological properties.
The colors of our products are obtained by mixing several plant pigments, extracted from dye plants or totum.
The Totum (Latin for "whole") is the part of the plant or fruit most concentrated in active ingredients; this can be the kernel, flesh, leaves, root, or bark.
In other words, using the synergy of the substances naturally contained in this part of the plant limits any side effects. LE ROUGE FRANÇAIS favors pure ingredients with minimal processing.
As a brand certified by the international ECOCERT label, all our materials must be 100% recyclable or biodegradable. Our cases and bottles are made from plant-based biosourced materials and glass. The lipstick cartridges are made of aluminum. Other accessories are made of wood, polyethylene or metal. The packaging cases are made from FSC-certified wood sourced from eco-managed French forests.
A biosourced material is one manufactured from plant or animal biomass. Your lipstick case is a global innovation, transparent and biosourced —it is made from a vegetable oil.
Some of our products contain potassium alum aggregated with plant pigments to fix the color. It is therefore never in its free form in the formula.
The European Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) conducted a study in 2020 on the safe use of aluminum in cosmetics. The conclusion is that this ingredient does not cause any toxicological effects and attests to its safety for health.

Natural materials need to be ground into a very fine powder for use as a colorant. The micro-beaded appearance or feel does not alter the quality of your lipstick. Slightly exfoliating, your lips will be smoother and the color fixation better.
No compromises on wear! It's equivalent to a high-end satin lipstick, lasting about 3 to 4 hours. The most demanding Make-up Artists trust us and have adopted it in their photo and video shoot routines.
The best way to apply lipstick is to pick up some product with a brush and then apply it to your lips. If you don't have a brush, you can apply the stick directly, but be careful not to extend it too far from the tube, as it may break. Depending on the desired intensity, you can apply multiple coats.
Our lipsticks are refillable. They consist of a transparent, bio-sourced case that you can keep for life, and a refill cartridge containing the stick. Once you've finished your product, you can buy a new cartridge in the same shade or a different shade to vary your look.
It's simple! Open your transparent case, pull out the old refill to detach it from the case, take the new one and insert it into the case. If you hear a click, your refill is properly inserted.
Each of our plant-based pigments has specific properties that can modulate the finish of our lipsticks, from satiny to slightly matte. However, if you want a shinier look, use a clear balm or gloss as a top coat.
Although using natural ingredients, the quality and shelf life of our products are no less effective. Most of our formulations are anhydrous – without water – therefore without any microbiological risk. Thus, our make-up has a minimum shelf life of 12 months after opening, which corresponds to the standard duration for conventional products.
