THE TINTING PIGMENT

Wild mignonette. Dyer's Rocket

Emblematic of the entire Mediterranean basin, it was used in the Middle Ages by illuminators, who referred to it by its Italian name Arzica. From the 1st to the 10th century AD, from Egypt to Palestine, it was the main source of yellow-orange dye for silks and woolens in the large floral kilims of Eastern Anatolia. Naturally rich in flavonoids, this pigment is known for bringing radiance and antioxidant protection to formulas.

Le Rouge Français stands out as a world pioneer in the use of plant-based pigments to colour its makeup products. We draw from a rich library of hundreds of dye plants, selected for their unique coloring qualities and biological benefits. Examples include madder, sorghum, indigo, Corsican chestnut, and Damask rose. These plants are endemic to preserve biodiversity and the local economy of the regions where they are cultivated.
WHY DO OTHER BRANDS USE PETROCHEMICALS? + −
99% of the industry massively uses synthetic pigments derived from petrochemicals – a petroleum derivative – or at best from minerals, but whose resource is not renewable. They are very economical, easy to manufacture and reproduce. If we use plant-based pigments, it is to guarantee absolute harmlessness, and to protect your skin and your health.
WHAT'S WRONG WITH TITANIUM DIOXIDE? + −
Titanium dioxide, or TiO2, is still permitted as a cosmetic ingredient in its micro-particle form – particle size larger than nano-particle. Titanium dioxide has been banned from the food industry since January 1, 2020, due to a proven carcinogenic risk. As women ingest an average of 4 kg of lipstick in a lifetime, we have chosen to remove it from all our formulas to guarantee you absolute safety.
WHAT DOES ECOCERT ORGANIC CERTIFICATION OFFER ME? + −
ECOCERT certification is currently the most demanding international cosmetic certification, going far beyond the blacklists established directly by brands or distributors. It controls the perfect traceability of products and restricts the use of many ingredients harmful to your health or the environment. It guarantees that the manufacturer's formulas are natural or organic and that eco-packaging is fully recyclable. ECOCERT certification is renewed annually after an internal audit.

HOW DO I REFILL MY LIPSTICK CASE? + −
Our lipsticks are refillable. They consist of a transparent, bio-sourced case that you can keep for life, and a refill cartridge containing the lipstick stick. Once your product is finished, you can purchase a new cartridge of the same shade or a different shade to vary your pleasure.
