Referred to as the 7th color of the rainbow, indigo is most often obtained from a mixture of blue and black pigments, darkening the bright red pigment of madder. In Africa, Yoruba women dye adire fabric with its bluish camaieu. It is recognized for its revitalizing and purifying properties, bringing radiance and depth to materials as well as to skincare rituals.
