One morning, the living world offered me the most extraordinary of wonders. My Plant Queen – Rubia Tinctorum – was crying crimson tears from her roots, as red as the blood pumping through my veins. My precious had a gift, the gift of holding powder particles that I called pigments, which helped me understand that I was living in a world full of Tinctorial Plants.
When I wore this colour on my lips, suddenly my mouth, my body, my entire being was subsumed into the plant world, like a wild vine encircling, holding and transforming me! The Plant world brought out the alchemist in me, the pigments became my philosopher’s stone, and the raison d’être of my quest to turn the world on its head became fully realized.
The power of Tinctorials revealed itself to me, as I discovered that as well as their colours, these extraordinary plants held incredible biological properties. Mirror, mirror on the wall, do you see this Red – elixir of life? This powerful pigment that is unique to all who wear it.
